India Kazakhstan conduct joint military exercise Kazind-2019

Defence News India: Indian Army has started a joint military exercise KAZIND-2019 Kazakhstan Army in Pithoragarh district of northern Indian state Uttarakhand. Two week long excercise that started on October 2 will complete on October 15. Nearly 100 soldiers from both armies are taking part in the exercise that is aimed at sharing experience gained during counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations conducted in the past.

This is the fourth edition of KAZIND-2019 military exercise which is conducted alternatively in Kazakhstan and India. The aim of this year’s exercise is to conduct company level joint training with emphasis on counter terrorism operations in mountainous terrain.

Different aspects of emerging trends of global terrorism and hybrid warfare have also been included in the joint military exercise.

“The joint military exercise will enhance the level of defence cooperation further fostering bilateral relations between the two nations,” Indian Army said in a statement.

Indian Army regularly conducts joint military exercises with friendly armies. A large number of these exercise are conducted under the aegis of the United Nations to enhance the anti-terror and counter insurgency skills of the participating armies.

Indian Army conducts a joint military exercise with the US Army called Yudhabhyas (Practice of warfare). Similarly, Indian Army also conducts joint military exercises with Mongolian Army, called Nomad Elephant and also with other friendly countries like Thailand and Russia.
