HENSOLDT completes EUA NT testing for Bundeswehr Helicopters: Ulm, Germany – [Date] – HENSOLDT has successfully concluded the modernization project “Einsatzunterstützungsanlage Neue Technologien” (EUA NT) for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). The project, commissioned by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) in 2022, aimed to upgrade the existing Mission Support System (EUA) for the next 15 years of operation.

The EUA NT is a deployable, complete system designed to support Bundeswehr rotorcraft operations, including the NH90 and Tiger helicopters. It consists of two key components:

System Container: This container houses a fail-safe IT infrastructure with network connectivity for integration with Bundeswehr IT systems up to the “VS-GEHEIM” (classified up to secret) level. It also includes modernized application software and communication systems for data and radio communication with aircraft. This container can operate independently as a command cell with two workstations to support helicopter operations before, during, and after missions.

Personnel Container: This container complements the system container by providing a control center and additional ergonomic workstations for up to six operators. Multiple personnel containers can be combined with a single system container, and several EUA-NT systems can be linked to form a data network.
Both containers are equipped with redundant power systems, including a generator for independent operation and an uninterruptible power supply to ensure continuous IT operation.

Future-Proof Solution for Bundeswehr

“With the New Technologies Mission Support System, we are creating a future-proof solution based on an established system that will sustainably strengthen the operational capability of the Bundeswehr,” stated Alex Irmscher, Program Manager for Ground Stations at HENSOLDT.

“Close cooperation with the customer and end users, as well as the consideration of operational experience from Afghanistan and Mali, has enabled us to develop a new system that is modular, highly flexible, and ready for the challenges of the coming years. In addition, provisions have been made to further improve usability for future weapon systems.”

Next Steps

In the coming phase, HENSOLDT will initiate series production, retrofit existing systems, and implement replication measures. The EUA NT is designed to be a commercially available, modular, and open-architecture system that serves as the ground station platform for current and future Bundeswehr rotorcraft and weapon systems.
