Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-100 REPMUS 2024: Vienna, Austria – October 16, 2024 – Schiebel, a leading provider of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), participated in the NATO-supported REPMUS 2024 exercise, showcasing the multi-mission capabilities of its CAMCOPTER S-100. For the third consecutive year, the S-100 proved its worth in maritime operations, excelling in various missions including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Mine Counter Measures (MCM), and Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA).
During the three-week exercise, the S-100 successfully conducted multiple missions, demonstrating its ability to adapt to diverse operational requirements. One of the highlights was the sonobuoy deployment and data relay mission, where the S-100 deployed both G-size and A-size sonobuoys to create an effective ASW barrier. The data from these sonobuoys was then relayed back to the ground station in real time using the Thales BlueTracker communications payload, providing critical range extension.

The S-100’s versatility was further showcased in its bathymetric and topographic mapping missions. Equipped with advanced LiDAR sensors from Riegl, the UAS was able to scan the exercise waters for both drifting and moored mines. This capability is essential for both MCM and REA operations, as it allows for accurate identification of sea mines and supports amphibious operations.
Hans Georg Schiebel, Chairman of the Schiebel Group, emphasized the importance of UAS technology in modern maritime warfare: “Maritime warfare utilizing UAS is becoming more and more front of mind for Navies all over the world. Using the latest technology combined with a proven unmanned asset provides an end-to-end solution for ASW that saves valuable time and significantly reduces risks.”
