Italy’s Leonardo gets RINA’s anti-corruption certification

Leonardo RINA’s anti-corruption certification: Rome, Italy (July 19, 2024) – Leonardo, a global player in aerospace, defense and security technologies, has solidified its position as a leader in the fight against corruption. The company successfully renewed its Anti-Corruption System Certification, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to preventing bribery and upholding the highest ethical standards.

The recognition, issued by RINA according to the ISO 37001:2016 standard, validates the effectiveness of Leonardo’s internal control system. RINA’s independent audits confirmed that all Leonardo processes susceptible to corruption risks are compliant, showcasing the company’s mature approach aligned with international best practices.

A crucial factor in this achievement is the strong awareness among Leonardo employees of the company’s anti-corruption system. In a statement, the company said it fosters a culture of compliance with ongoing training and continuous improvement of its control measures.

Roberto Cingolani, CEO and General Manager of Leonardo, emphasized the significance of the renewed certification.

“This renewal serves as a vital foundation for our future, built upon a vision of sustainable progress. Our goal is to remain a leader in anti-corruption efforts, earning the trust and credibility of our stakeholders and communities. Acting in the company’s interest can never justify compromising our core principles – integrity, good faith, trust, and  zero tolerance for corruption,” Roberto Cingolani said in a statement sent to Defence Star.

Lorenzo Mariani, Co-General Manager of Leonardo, highlighted the strategic importance of responsible practices.

He said that the renewed ISO 37001:2016 certification is a direct result of Leonardo’s commitment to guaranteeing ethical and transparent business conduct.

“This is a strategic asset, essential for safeguarding our company’s reputation. We will continue to invest in initiatives that strengthen our business while simultaneously upholding the principles of integrity and professional ethics,” Lorenzo Mariani added.

Leonardo first received the Anti-Corruption System Certification in 2018, placing them among the top ten international companies in the Aerospace, Defense & Security sector to achieve this recognition. The company undergoes annual surveillance audits by RINA to ensure ongoing compliance with the certification standards.
