Leonardo acquires majority stake in GEM Electtronica: Rome, Italy – Global aerospace, defense, and security company Leonardo has finalized its acquisition of a controlling stake in GEM Elettronica, a leading Italian developer and manufacturer of navigation systems, situational awareness, radar sensors, optronic, and inertial sensors for military naval and coastal surveillance applications. The acquisition, valued at approximately €16 million, increases Leonardo’s ownership in GEM Elettronica from 30% to 65%. This strategic move aligns with Leonardo’s Industrial Plan, which prioritizes bolt-on acquisitions in key areas to strengthen its market position.
