Fincantieri Opens Innovation Antenna in San Francisco: Trieste/San Francisco, October 25, 2024: Fincantieri, a global leader in shipbuilding, has announced the opening of an Innovation Antenna at the Mind the Bridge Innovation Center in San Francisco. This strategic move aims to position the company at the forefront of the global technology landscape and foster the development of innovative dual-use technologies.
Dual-use technologies, applicable to both civilian and military sectors, are becoming increasingly important in today’s world. By focusing on areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, automation, and robotics, Fincantieri seeks to leverage the convergence of these technologies to address the challenges of the future.
In collaboration with Mind the Bridge and Crunchbase, Fincantieri has released a groundbreaking report titled “Dual-use technologies: going beyond the dual-use divide.” This comprehensive analysis examines over 60,000 startups across 47 NATO and allied countries, revealing that approximately 25% of them are developing dual-use technologies.

The report highlights the significant potential for growth in the dual-use technology sector. While only 5% of these startups are currently implementing technologies for defense applications, the conversion rate from civil to military applications, as seen in countries like Israel, could exceed 60%.
