Lockheed Martin Names Kevin O’Connor As New General Counsel

Kevin O’Connor joins Lockheed Martin:  Bethesda, Maryland – December 3, 2024 – Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT) today announced a key leadership change with the appointment of Kevin O’Connor as its new senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary. O’Connor will assume the role on January 13, 2025, succeeding Maryanne Lavan who is retiring after an exemplary 34-year career with the company.

Experienced Leader Joins the Team

O’Connor brings a wealth of experience to Lockheed Martin, with a proven track record of success in legal and regulatory affairs across both public and private sectors. He joins the company from Carrier, where he served as senior vice president and chief legal officer. He oversaw the company’s global legal and compliance matters, while also leading government and regulatory affairs, shaping strategies to support Carrier’s global business growth.

To ensure a smooth transition, Ms. Lavan will serve as a strategic advisor to the company during the first quarter of 2025.

Kevin O’Connor: A Brief Profile

O’Connor’s extensive legal experience spans over 25 years, encompassing both government service and private practice. Prior to joining Carrier, he held leadership positions such as chief legal officer for Point72, vice president of Global Ethics & Compliance at UTC, and partner at the law firm Bracewell LLP.

His distinguished career also includes high-ranking positions within the U.S. government. Notably, he served as associate attorney general, the third-ranking official at the Department of Justice, U.S. attorney for Connecticut, and attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
