Big boost to IAF’s precision strike capability as DRDO successfully tests Guided Bomb

IAF: India has conducted several weapon systems in the last two weeks that will boost its firepower against its enemies, including test of supersonic cruise missile Brahmos and precision guided bombs developed by DRDO.

Defence Research and Defence Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested a 500 kg class Inertial Guided Bomb today from Su-30 MKI Aircraft from the Pokhran test range in Rajasthan on May 24, two days after IAF successfully test fired an aerial version of Brahmo.

“The guided bomb achieved the desired range and hit the target with high precision,” said the government.

It was tested the same day when India’s eastern command unit in Andaman and Nicobar Islands test fired Brahmos missile involving all three branches of Indian military, Indian Air Force, Indian Army and Indian Navy.

“All the mission objectives have been met. The weapon system is capable of carrying different warheads,” said the government in a statement.
