The F-22 Raptor, renowned for its advanced capabilities, relies on two F119 engines, each generating over 35,000 pounds of thrust. This power enables the aircraft to reach altitudes above 65,000 feet and achieve unmatched speed and agility. Notably, the F-22 possesses supercruise capability, allowing it to maintain supersonic speeds without the use of afterburners, conserving fuel and extending its operational range.

Pratt & Whitney has been actively working to reduce F119 engine costs through its Usage Based Lifing program. This program utilizes real-time data to optimize maintenance schedules, extend engine life, and improve efficiency. Additionally, an engine control schedule update has enhanced the engine’s kinematic performance. This new contract will build upon these efforts, with a continued emphasis on safety, availability, simplified maintenance, and modernization initiatives.
