Finland to Upgrade Its Arsenal with Patria’s Tremos Mortar System

Patria wins Finland order for Tremos Mortar System: Helsinki, Finland – [October 29, 2024] – The Finnish Defence Forces have announced plans to acquire a new, modular 120 mm mortar system from domestic defense company Patria. This strategic move aims to enhance the mobility and versatility of the Finnish Army’s heavy mortar capabilities.

The new mortar system, set for delivery in 2025, is designed to integrate traditional heavy mortars onto a modular carriage. This innovative approach allows for flexible deployment on various military vehicles, significantly boosting the system’s operational readiness. The system is also compatible with both existing and new mortar systems, ensuring seamless integration with the Finnish Army’s existing fire management systems.

“Patria has successfully collaborated with the Finnish Army and the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command to develop this new weapon system,” stated Jussi Järvinen, Patria’s Executive Vice President, Finland Division. “The system has undergone rigorous testing, and we are pleased to announce the signing of the pre-series agreement. Our decades of experience in developing and manufacturing advanced mortar systems, such as Patria AMOS and Patria NEMO, has been instrumental in bringing this solution to life.”

The Finnish Army has designated this project as the 120 KRH M3 mortar system. Patria officially unveiled the system at the Future Mortar Systems conference in London on October 29, 2024, under the name Patria TREMOS.
