Canada to procure heavy recovery vehicles from Rheinmetall: Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Canada – [November 14, 2024] – Rheinmetall Canada has secured a significant contract from the Canadian government to supply 85 heavy recovery vehicles to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as part of the Enhanced Recovery Capability (ERC) project. The five-year contract, valued at $325 million CAD, also includes recovery equipment and other modifications, with initial deliveries scheduled for 2027.
A Powerful Partnership for Enhanced Military Capabilities
As the prime contractor, Rheinmetall Canada will replace the CAF’s existing heavy logistic vehicle wheeled recovery fleet with 85 HX 8×8 trucks, each equipped with a heavy towing and recovery module. These advanced vehicles will significantly enhance the CAF’s ability to recover and tow its latest generation of heavier armored and logistical vehicles.
The new HX heavy recovery vehicles offer a range of additional capabilities, including an integrated rotary crane that can be used for container handling and other crane work. This versatility will further boost the CAF’s operational efficiency and flexibility.
